Use the Rule of Thirds: Shade diameter should equal 2/3 of lamp base height. For harp-mounted shades, measure from harp base to socket top—shade height should cover socket without obscuring switch. Our gallery includes “virtual fitting” scale references showing each shade beside standard objects (soda can, basketball) for size context.
Opal glass (40-70% transmission) creates diffuse, shadow-free ambient lighting perfect for hospitality. Clear glass (>90% transmission) provides directional task lighting with visible bulb filament (vintage aesthetic) or maximum lumen output (industrial). Our gallery displays each shade with both LED filament bulb and diffused bulb to demonstrate optical behavior.
Yes. Our Sample Evaluation Program allows you to order single pieces from the gallery. We offer a Swatch Box Service containing 10cm×10cm material samples of opal densities, colors, and textures, plus a minishade prototype (Φ80mm) to verify fitter compatibility.
Look for Borosilicate (thermal shock resistance for weather changes) or Tempered Soda-Lime (impact resistance) in our gallery. Avoid standard annealed opal glass for outdoor fixtures. Gallery items marked with 🌿 “Outdoor Rated” have passed ASTM G154 UV exposure testing (1000 hours).
Use our Restoration Matching Service: Upload photos and measurements via the gallery’s “Custom” tab. We maintain an archive of 500+ historical glass patterns from 1890-1980. If no match exists, our centrifugal casting can replicate from your original fragment with 95%+ accuracy.
All gallery items marked with 💡 “LED Optimized” are tested for 40,000-hour LED heat exposure (60-80°C) without thermal stress cracking. For enclosed fixtures, we recommend Borosilicate or tempered glass only—standard soda-lime may require ventilation in fully enclosed designs.
